Plastic pollution is increasing day by day. There are many simple things that you can do to reduce your plastic footprints such as using a reusable water bottle, buy a tote bag for groceries, and more.
But what about the beauty products you use every day? Almost every cleaning and beauty products come encased in plastic packaging. By the end of the year, this plastic adds up and very few of it gets recycled.
Three Miami-based brothers, Nick, Matthew, and Mark Gunia, want to help you cut the majority of this kind of plastic from your life. They have come up with the new device they call Cleanyst, that allows the users to make their own soaps and detergents at home. It lets you easily mix a complete range of natural cleaning and personal care products at the push of a button.
Cleanyst, developed with the goal of eliminating excess plastic waste, allows you to create 10 different body care and cleaning products in your home, including shampoos, conditioners, body washes, hand soaps, dish soaps, laundry detergents, fabric softeners, all-purpose cleaners, glass cleaners, and tub and tile cleaners.
The new home-mixing system features a reusable glass bottle for mixing ingredients. In addition, it comes with small plastic pouches that contain highly concentrated cleaning ingredients, which are 98% to 99% plant-based, according to the company. Plus reusable pump-containers for holding the final product.
How to use it? Simple, you only need to pour some warm water into the appliance like a coffee machine and then add in the plastic pouch and customizable ingredients. After that select the function on the device’s LCD display, press go and let the machine do the mixing.
Besides, essential oils can also be added to the mixture, which allows users to personalize their homecare products according to their personal taste. Your product will be ready in 1-3 minutes. Just remove the bottle, twist on a pump or sprayer, and enjoy!
The prototype version of this exceptional device weighs around 12 lb (5.4 kg) and has dimension of (16.5 x 8.5 x 12) inches, which may alter slightly once it goes into final production.
By letting customers add the water to products, the company is able to fit the essential ingredients into smaller containers, which reduces the overall amount of plastic required, It also reduces carbon emissions, and save money.
