Off-road SUVs and trucks are designed for use off public roads and rough surfaces such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, snow, rocks, and other natural and rough terrain. Off-road offers many advantages to users, such as all-terrain flexibility. However, road vehicles consume a lot of fuel and emit harmful gases into the atmosphere. Many companies like Tesla have already developed eco-friendly trucks and 4×4 vehicles.
Scotland-based electric vehicle company Munro has unveiled the MK_1, an all-terrain electric pick-up truck capable of going off-road. The MK_1 has three different variants- Utility, Range, and Performance.
The MK_1 Utility is primarily focused on practicality; similarly, the MK_1 Range is focused on providing more range to the vehicle. Both are powered by a 220-kW motor hub that offers the vehicle a maximum speed of 129 km/h (80 mph) and a peak torque of 600 Nm.
MK_1 Performance, as the name suggests, mainly focuses on giving the vehicles more power to perform in harsh conditions. The vehicle is combined with a 280kW motor hub that delivers a maximum speed of 129 km/h (80 mph) and a peak torque 700Nm.
The MK_01 can be fully charged from 15-80% in 36 minutes using a 100 kW charger.
The Utility version of the vehicle is integrated with a 61.2 kWh battery that gives a maximum range of 227 km (141 miles). Range and Performance are packed with the same 82.4 kWh battery that provides both the vehicles maximum range of up to 306 km (190 miles).
MK_01 is one of the strongest and most durable vehicles. It weighs 2500 kg (5512 lb) and can carry load up to 1000 kg (2218 lb). It also has a maximum towing capacity of 2500kg (5512 lb) (braked). This vehicle has steel wheels with all-terrain standard tires merged with coil springs with shock absorbers.
This vehicle comes with Upol Raptor paint protection as standard. It’s durable paint that can stand up to almost anything you throw at it. The Munro MK_1’s interior is built to withstand mud, clay, dust, and scratches – inside and out. The cabin is fully washable, with drain holes in the floor. The interior of the MK_01 also features wireless charging, household power outlets, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
These vehicles are designed to operate in heavy-duty environments. MK_1 EVs are engineered with miners, tree surgeons, quarriers, farmers, search and rescue teams, and other heavy industry sector customers in mind. It also enables these industries to decarbonize, improve air quality and use energy more efficiently.
You can reserve the Utility, Range, and Performance variant of Munro MK_01 at starting prices of £59,994 ($74,452), £71,994 ($89,344), and £83,994 ($104,236) respectively, from their official website.
