“Sustainability” is one of the strongest words in the industry today, and many cellular manufacturers want to show that they care about sustainability and the environment. A Dutch startup Heatbox is trying to ride the same wave and has launched a smart self-warming lunch box that offers you the possibility to eat a healthy hot meal outside the home.
The purpose of Heatbox is to prevent you from bringing food ready for work in the disposable boxes. Heatbox is actually a multi-purpose box that allows you to eat a healthy and fresh hot meal without being dependent on a microwave or expensive or other unhealthy alternatives.
With the Heatbox, you can prepare a hot meal in eight to twelve minutes. The heating operation inside the box is done by evaporation. The box has a special small compartment into which you fill water (30 milliliters for three hot meals) from which the steam is formed.
All you have to do is put the food inside the lunchbox in the designated place, close the (wooden) lid and press the power button located on the front of the box. Or you can switch on the box via a smartphone app in which recipes can also be found, and calories can be recorded. Immediately afterward, the food heating process begins by evaporation, and you end up getting a hot meal.
There are three different steam programs for meals of different sizes. The box can be recharged via a supplied USB-C charger and can heat up three meals with one charge. This attractive-looking lunch box is very portable and can be taken anywhere. In addition, the battery can be used as a mobile charger and charge your smartphone.
The app also helps you to get data about the heating process and set personal heating parameters if you want longer or shorter heating than the standard.
The inventors are raising funds for the production of the Heatbox through a campaign via the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.
