Meet Unitree Go2, GPT and AI-powered four-legged robodog

Chinese company Unitree Robotics has revealed its new robust four-legged robodog called the Unitree Go2. This robot is a successor to Unitree’s previous Robodog Go1. The Go2 robot comes in three modifications, namely Go2 Air, Go2 Pro, and Go2 Edu, and these bots feature embodied AI technology.

Go2 features Unitree’s self-developed 4D LiDAR L1 powered by GPT‘s large language model, which allows it to make decisions based on information from its sensor. With 360°x90° omnidirectional ultra-wide-angle recognition, this robodog can detect super small blind spots and a minimum detection distance as low as 0.05m, which makes Go2 realize all-terrain recognition.

This robot is made of aluminum alloy and high-strength engineering plastic. The robot is 70cm long, 31cm wide, and 40cm high, weighing about 15 kg, including a battery.

The Go2 is equipped with an over 8,000 mAh capacity battery that lasts for 1h-2h and an optional 15,000mAh ultra-long-life battery that lasts for 2h-4h. The battery voltage is increased to 28.8V to improve motor efficiency, power, and stability.

It has strong and powerful 12 knee joint motors capable of the intelligent side-follow system (ISS 2.0), a maximum 5m/s running speed, and 45N.m peak joint torque.

You can monitor Go2 robodog in a new application that realizes HD image transmission and real-time remote monitoring. This robot has a built-in Wi-Fi 6 with dual-band, Bluetooth 5.2, and 4G eSim card wireless modules, enabling a more stable connection and remote control to the Go2.

The robot can automatically connect to cloud-based over-the-air (OTA) services to upgrade its program to improve the user experience.

Go2 has many accessories such as a depth camera D435i, a high computing power module with up to 40 tops- 100 tops computing power, a 3D navigation radar, a small servo mechanical arm, and a charging station.

The starting price for the Unitree Go2 robodog is $1,600 (tax and freight excluded). You can pre-order this robot from their official site, and the company starts shipping in October.
