Vekkit e-bike conversion kit convert a regular bike into an e-bike

Today, there are many e-bike conversion kits available in the market that let you convert a regular bike into an e-bike. These are not only durable but also easy on the wallet of those who are already satisfied with their bikes and don’t want to buy another for a motorized ride.

Recently, a Polish company Velotton enters the e-bike market with an innovative idea. It has developed and launched the new Vekkit Travel e-bike kit with a 2-speed motor, which allows you to convert any regular bike into an electric bike. It is a solution that makes the electrification system of the bicycle completely portable.

Vekkit kit consists of a front wheel with a motor bag with a battery, and a wireless cadence sensor. The cadence sensor detects pedaling and “tells” a motor to assist. Installation takes just over 5 minutes for most bike types, according to Velotton. At first glance, it looks quite similar to the Swytch conversion kit, which has seen a surge in popularity in recent years.

Buyers can choose between 200 or 250 W motors and li-ion removable battery options: very light 252 Wh (1.2kg) or extended 360 Wh (1.7kg). Choosing one or another variant will depend on the type of journeys that are made daily the speed that you want to follow, or the presence of unevenness in the urban environment.

With the above options, the kit provides power support up to 25 km/h (UK and EU) and up to 30 km/h (Canada & USA). Regarding autonomy, it promises a range of 12 to 31 miles (20 to 50 km) in the first option or 25 to 47 miles (40 to 75 km) if the alternative with higher capacity is chosen.

The Vekkit collects all the electronics and battery packs in a small bag that is attached to the handlebar or behind the saddle. In this way, people can take off this bag at any time and drive normally. Unlike other kits, the kit does not create a large extra weight when electric driving is not desired.

In addition, the new technology offers information to both iOS and Android users through a mobile application. A sensor built into the handlebar provides data related to pedaling assistance, the remaining range, or the average speed carried out during a certain trip.

The price of the e-bike conversion kit starts at €550 (about $640). When buying, you can choose between different wheel sizes, batteries, and motors. It should be noted that this kit is compatible with almost every normal bike, including small rims.
