German-based bicycle manufacturing company CUBE has unveiled a new cargo bike, the Longtail Hybrid, with an extra-long luggage carrier capacity.
The Longtail Hybrid is inspired by the classic trekking bike but features a stable, elongated luggage carrier.
The bike offers a range of accessories for transporting children, luggage, or cargo, and the luggage carrier can adapt to an array of changing needs.
The Longtail Hybrid cargo e-bike is equipped with the Bosch Performance CX Gen 4 mid-drive motor that offers 85Nm of torque and pedal assist up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph). Also, the bike is powered by the 725-Wh PowerPack battery, which is placed behind the seat post.
In addition, the bike is equipped with a Bosch LED remote that connects the e-bike to the eBike Flow app, and the Bosch Kiox 300 offers an easy-to-read splash-proof and dust-proof color display that also can be connected to the eBike Flow app.
Moreover, the bike features 26-inch Schwalbe Pick-Up tires and Magura MT5 hydraulic disc brakes with 203 mm rotors.
For adjustability, the bike comes as standard courtesy of CUBE’s ONE SIZE Concept, with a telescopic seat post and height-adjustable Speedlifter stem, which adapt to suit a wide range of riders from 1.60 to 1.90m (around 5ft 2 into 6ft 2in), allowing anyone to ride the bike with confidence.
The parts and accessories designed by CUBE for the Longtail Hybrid include Bench Seat RILink Longtail, Side Protector Longtail, Step Board Set Longtail, Rail Longtail, ACID Pannier PRO 45/2 Longtail, Front Carrier HIC RILink, ACID Front Carrier Bag Pro 40 HIC RILink, and ACID Front Basket 15 HIC RiLink.
With accessories, CUBE’s Longtail Hybrid bike can transport a 40cm by 60cm Eurobox or a generously sized pannier on a sturdy luggage carrier with suspension technology. The carrier is rated at 40kg (88 lbs) on top and 10kg (22 lbs) on each side to offer a total of 60kg (132 lbs).
There is also an option to upgrade with a front rack to add a further 20kg (44 lbs) of cargo carrying capacity. A lockable storage compartment with flexible partitions in the down tube keeps valuables safe under lock and key. The down tube can also take a compatible luggage rack with two mounting points.
The bike can accommodate two children, and they can sit comfortably on the padded bench seat. Alternatively, the luggage carrier is compatible with conventional child seats that safely transport small children to a bench seat. Side protectors keep legs and trouser legs away from spokes. Wooden step boards can be used as footrests for children or as platforms for carrying parcels.
The cargo e-bike weighs 35.4kg (78 lbs) and is rated for a maximum weight capacity of 200 kg (441 lb) with the rider.
CUBE’s Longtail Hybrid cargo bike is available in two variants, Longtail Hybrid 725 and Longtail Sport Hybrid 725, priced at €4,499 (around US$4,810) and €3,799 (around $4,065) respectively.
