Spanish company Unlimited has launched its first and innovative e-bike conversion system on the market. Of course, it is not the first of its kind, but it is an interesting option for anyone who wants to convert their conventional bike into an electric bicycle since the Unlimited eBike Conversion Kit is suitable for practically any model of all sizes.
It has been developed over the past two years by Unlimited’s team of engineers, based on their experience in designing and manufacturing electric skateboard kits.
The kit is available in several versions and with various accessories, but in its simplest form, it consists of a battery, a wheel that has the motor inserted in the hub, and a wireless pedal (PAS) sensor. Light and performing, it transforms the muscle bike into an e-bike in just a few minutes.
What sets Unlimited apart from other e-bike conversion systems already on the market is the adoption of high voltage batteries (52V) made with proprietary components, which allow you to obtain maximum power and autonomy, with minimum weight. In addition, the pedal sensor is placed on the bike is wireless that connects via Bluetooth without any complicated wiring. Simply replace the drive wheel, place the battery in the bottom tube, and the pedal assist sensor on the pedal crank.
The kit is available in the European Union and the United States. There are two motors available (250W – EU and 750W – USA), which allow you to developed the maximum speeds of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) for the EU version and 35 km/h (22 mph) for US version. The motor wheel is built for any wheel sizes between 16-inch and 29-inch, great for the city, trekking, MTB, gravel, or road bikes.
The battery has a capacity of 151 Wh, or 353 Wh, allowing you to drive 35 to 80 km (22-50 miles) on a single battery charge. Charging times are fairly quick and go from 2 to 3 hours for a complete cycle.
Once installed, the e-bike conversion system is very simple to manage, thanks to the dedicated smartphone application that allows you to keep all the functions of the bicycle under control. The power button, located in the battery pack, activates the system and turns off automatically after a certain period of inactivity.
The Unlimited eBike Conversion Kit is available on Indiegogo starting at €449 ($510), with additional accessories such as the accelerator or a larger battery that increases its price. The bike will begin shipping in November 2020.
