Renewable energy resources can produce more energy than we need. This excess generated energy can be stored in a battery energy storage system (BESS), providing energy during power outages and peak hours. This system is an ideal backup for fast and uninterrupted power supply, switching to off-grid mode quickly and ensuring continuous power supply. The black start function of the BESS system can support the grid in case of outages and improve the reliability of the power supply.
An Australia-based energy storage system manufacturing company, Chelion, has unveiled Matrix CAIO, an all-in-one commercial battery cabinet.
Matrix CAIO integrated with an all-in-one lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery can deploy renewable energy for commercial power users with high roundtrip efficiency (~95%) and a flexible, modular design. The system can be deployed on outdoor slabs thanks to its IP-65-rated design. It also helps in reducing the installation cost of the system.
Chelion Matrix CAIO measures 1450 mm wide, 2000 mm high, and 1100 mm deep. This energy storage system weighs 700kg.
The CAIO comes with a modular rack system, which can hold 90kW of Bi-directional AC-DC Inverter Capacity, or up to 120kW of DC-DC PV inversion, or a combination of PCS, PV, and Static Transfer Switch (STS) for hybrid system. The CAIO can also be joined in parallel with an external Power Conversion System (PCS) that can store up to 452kWh of energy storage.
The streamlined, all-in-one design optimizes space utilization, and its LFP cells have many advantages over other types of batteries, such as high safety, high energy density, low cost, and long cycle life.

The Matrix CAIO has been granted Clean Energy Council (CEC) approval for sale in Australia. This certificate highlights the CAIO’s exceptional quality, reliability, and adherence to industry benchmarks.
