VertDesk V3: World’s first voice-controlled standing desk

Modern society is designed for sitting. Over half of the average person’s day is spent sitting, doing activities such as driving, studying, traveling, working at a desk, or watching TV. However, sitting at your desk all day is a risk factor for early death, even if you exercise.

Standing desks that transition between the lows and highs seem to solve such issues. The most convenient ideas are the motors and programmable presets to raise and lower them to your preferred height with a button. And now, the next logical step in the field is a voice-activated standing desk.

Beyond the Office Door (BTOD) announces the release of their new VertDesk v3 height adjustable standing desk with Voice Control, which easily adjusts the height of your desk without pressing a button. The new VertDesk iOS App will allow iPhone users to adjust the height of their desk with simple voice commands – like “Hey Siri, stand up!” or “Hey Siri, sit down” – that can be customized to each user.

The use of voice control creates a unique hands-free experience and allows you to focus more on your work rather than messing up with fiddly buttons to motor your desk up and down. There are four one-touch preset heights that you can use within the app or set up with a simple voice command.

One-touch functionality now comes standard with all programmable switches.

Also, with one-touch programmable switches, you no longer need to press and hold your button for the desk to reach the desired height. Simply press and release the programmed button, and this smart desk will move up or down to your selected position.

One interesting and might be really helpful feature is an activity assistant, which will send out reminder notifications to sit or stand throughout the working day.

The VertDesk V3, which claims to be the first voice-activated standing desk, also offers an overload protection system. It comes with a standard lifting capacity of 275 lbs (124 kg), and once the desk has reached max capacity, it will automatically shut down, preventing any damage from occurring. The Ketterer single motor system can support the lifting from 27 inches (68.5 cm) in height to 47.5 in at a speed of up to 1.55 inches (3.9 cm) per second.

Besides, the new VertDesk electronics have incorporated a gyro sensor in their control box to detect whether the desk will come into contact with a user to prevent injuries.

At US$552, the VertDesk V3 with Voice Control is available for pre-order only and will start shipping in September 2019. For more detailed information and to place your order, visit BTOD.COM.
