Car camping allows you to go to remote locations and stay in your car camp for as long as you want. Car camping is a relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors. However, many car camping kits are expensive and offer few features.
Automobile manufacturer Nissan has unveiled an all-electric Townstar EV station wagon with camping conversion at the Caravan Salon 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany. This camping extension offers a comfortable roof tent, Irmscher I-Box kitchen module, and other equipment to make your camping more efficient and comfortable.
The camping extension of the Nissan Townstar EV camping van features a removable Irmscher I-Box kitchen module in the rear of the vehicle with a two-burner gas hob and a sink with a water connection, and there is also a fourteen-liter capacity cold box. Additionally, drawers for kitchen accessories and drawers for knives and work surface are included. The washing up, cooking, and cooling modules can be easily removed individually and reinstalled in a few steps.
The Nissan Townstar camping version is specifically designed as an electric version of the high-roof station wagon. It is integrated with the Maggiolina Airlander Plus Black Roof Tent with a bed area of 1.3 meters wide and 2.1 meters long. It can be easily assembled with a crank. A height-adjustable aluminum ladder takes you through one of two entrances to the interior of the roof tent, which comfortably seats two adults. All are equipped with open mosquito nets, a sound-absorbing headliner, and a practical roof lamp.
The Townstar EV station camping van conversion comes with a 45-kWh battery that powers a 90 kW (122 hp) electric motor and develops 245 Nm of torque. The 45-kWh battery can be charged with AC (up to 22 kW) or DC charger by the vehicle’s Combined Charging System (CCS) connection. The latter allows charging from 15 to 80 percent in just 37 minutes. The variant with a 22-kW charging system also has a heat pump that efficiently heats the vehicle’s interior. A battery cooling system that optimizes the service life of the driving battery is also on board.
Range and pricing for the Nissan Townstar EV Station Wagon Camping Conversion have yet to be announced.
