New Zealand-based all-wheel-drive electric utility bike company UBCO has unveiled the 2X2 Hunt Edition, an all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric motorbike designed for the hunt and built for the wild.
The bike was designed in collaboration with Shane Dorian, a professional big wave surfer and bow hunter.
“The experience of using an electric AWD vehicle to hunt, especially one as tough as the UBCO is unbeatable – it’s light, silent, and a blast to ride. I’m excited about where I can get to this season using this bike”, said, Shane Dorian, Hunter, HoF surfer, and co-collaborator on this Hunt Edition.
The 2X2 Hunt Edition is equipped with two 1.7kW peak mower motors, which provide the bike 208NM of torque and a top speed of 30 mph (48 km/h); however, with the help of boost mode, the bike’s speed can instantly lift top speed to 40mph (64km/h).
The off-road e-bike is powered by a 3.1 kWh battery pack, which features an SR regenerative brake system, giving this bike a maximum range of 75 miles (120km) on a single charge. Also, the battery can be charged within 4 to 6 hours with the help of an included fast charger.
The 2X2 Hunt Edition electric off-road bike weighs 156lb (71kg) with a battery. It can carry a maximum weight of up to 330lbs (149 kg), including the rider.
The all-wheel drive electric off-road bike measures 1,820mm long, 820mm wide, and 1,025mm high with a seat height of 815mm and a wheelbase of 1215mm.
The bike is integrated with nine-gauge stainless steel spokes, 17 by 1.85 inches aluminum rims, and 17 by 2.75 inches off-road knobbly tires, making it suitable for off-roading.
The bike has a 130mm front and 120mm rear suspension, and the SR brake system provides the bike’s braking power with two-piston radial calipers.
The 2X2 Hunt Edition also features a 2400-lumen floodlight headlight and LED rear brake lights.
The bike also can be connected to the UBCO Rider app, which lets users change the bike’s settings wirelessly. With the app’s help, users can activate stealth mode, which turns off all the lights, including the dash light. It also has Boost mode that can increase the bike’s top speed to 40mph when needed.
