The Mahindra Thar is a full-featured SUV perfect for city and highway driving needs. It is a four-wheel drive SUV that handles some of the most challenging terrains and is popular among adventurers.
The Thar is most revered and loved by both off-road enthusiasts and the general public in India, attracting attention wherever it goes with its distinctive and rugged beauty.
Now Mahindra and Mahindra’s subsidiary, Mahindra Electric Automobiles Limited (MEAL), has unveiled the concept of an electric version of the iconic Thar, the Vision Thar.e, at the Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa.
Vision Thar.e represents a revolutionary design with a futuristic look, preserving the iconic brand’s strong DNA and emphasizing the ‘explore the impossible’ philosophy.
Ther.e will be based on the INGLO electric platform and equipped with a state-of-the-art high-performance all-wheel-drive electric powertrain.

In terms of design, the Thar.e follows a brand-new boxy dimension design. Embody crisp, geometric surfaces and provide increased ground clearance.
At the front of the Thar.e are square headlight units set in a rectangle with three LED elements on one side.
The interior of the Thar.e will feature a minimalist design with a central pivoting screen, grab handles, and a fabric made of 50% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with the essential functionality of off-road driving.
Incorporating 50% recycled PET and recyclable uncoated plastics, Thar.e’s construction showcases a sincere commitment to environmental stewardship.
With adaptable, modular, and interchangeable components, the Thar.e reflects an innovative approach to electric SUV construction.
Mahindra has not shared details about the EV’s launch date, specifications, range, and battery.
