California-based electric motorcycle manufacturer, Zero Motorcycles, has designed and developed an all-new motorcycle named the “SR/F”. The SR/F electric motorcycle is now Zero’s fastest offering with a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).
It comes with new parts and mesmerizing features like never before such as 0-95% charging in just 1 hour. Zero Motorcycles claimed it is the next step towards the future of electric motorcycles.
Let’s have a detailed look at it!
Zero’s SR/F comes equipped with a ZF14.4 lithium-ion battery pack that is capable of a combined (highway and city) range of 198km. The battery powers the company’s new ZF75-10 motor that makes 110hp at just 5000rpm and 190Nm of torque.
Top speed is a claimed 200kmph. All this power is controlled via a new Bosch’s MSC System synced with Zero’s Cypher III operating system. So now you have cornering ABS, cornering traction control and drag torque control (engine brake control in IC bikes) on offer. It also gets rider modes like Street, Sport, Eco, Rain and a custom mode that can be programmed in 10 different ways.
The battery has an aluminum heat sink housing and thermal transfer interface that ensure consistent cell cooling and maximum long-term powertrain performance.
Recharge from nothing to 95 percent capacity in just an hour!
The SR/F is available in two variants that are identical in all aspects except their charging capabilities – the Standard variant that gets a 3kW charger and a Premium variant that comes with a 6kW charger.
Additionally, Zero will also make available a Rapid Charge option, which will configure the motorcycle to be charged to 6kW more. The company claims that the SR/F Premium with Rapid Charge will be capable of 95 percent of charge in one hour, which is quicker than most smartphones!
Holding all this in place is a lightweight, steel trellis frame with superbike-like suspension setup. Yes, the all-electric motorcycle gets a fully adjustable 43mm Showa Big Piston-Separate Function Fork and a fully adjustable 40mm Showa rear suspension with a piggyback reservoir.
Tires too are premium 17-inch Pirelli Diablo Rosso III radials. Braking duties are handled by dual 320mm discs with J-Juan 4-piston radial calipers and a radial brake master cylinder radial and a 240mm disc with single-piston J-Juan caliper at the rear.
With a weight of 225kg, the SR/F is quite heavy when compared it to similarly sized petrol-powered superbikes. The seat height is set low at 787mm.
Customize your dash
Choose the bike info you want and see it clearly on the full-color 5” TFT LCD display. Multi-mode navigation enables on-the-fly ride mode switching, cruise-control, heated-grip control and much more.
Furthermore, it comes with Zero’s next-generation app that works with the dash and Cypher III to create a feature-rich ecosystem. All the ride data will be available on the app for review and sharing- location, speed, lean angle, power, torque, SoC, energy used/regenerated.
The Zero SR/F is undoubtedly impressive and marks new territory for the company.
