The bike, called “Wello Family,” is the very first connected urban solar vehicle of its kind. Specially designed and designed to be an intelligent mobility solution intended for the general public, the bicycle is equipped with three wheels and an electric battery good for a range of up to 100 km (62 miles) per day. The battery can be recharged from the mains or via new generation solar panels on the roof on a sunny day.
Not only that: the propulsion is practically guaranteed in all circumstances, you can use the engine or even the pedal with electric “assistance.”
Light and compact, this three-wheeled bicycle can carry two to three passengers (the driver + an adult or two children in the back). The rear seat turns into a trunk. The company’s data indicate that the bike/car can carry up to 800 liters or 80 kg (176 lb) of cargo. The electric motors help Wello Family to reach speeds between 25 and 40 km/h depending on the version.
Practically, it can borrow the cycle tracks and is thus presented as the ideal solution to circulate quickly and without obstacle in the big cities. We are dealing with a means of transport that is not only practical but also 100% ecological because it emits no CO2 at all. With its small size, the vehicle can park even in difficult places, such as between two cars. It is 7.4 feet in length and 2.7 feet in width.
Its coverage makes it usable even in rainy weather. The Wello Family cargo bike also has Bluetooth connectivity and its own mobile application that offers the functions of localization and consultation of daily use. The usage data is stored in real-time in the Cloud, and users can access it when needed. It should be noted that the information collected is 100% secure, according to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
But with a price of 7,900 euros – around $8,820 (or a little less if you give up the solar panel) – according to CNET, the Wello Family also shows that prices can still be an obstacle to the adoption of this fun and very useful small electric vehicles.
