E-bikes offer a better riding experience and have a positive economic and environmental impact. Various companies in the world make e-bikes for different needs of users, like mountain e-bikes, cruising e-bikes, racing e-bikes, etc.
However, a significant problem with e-bikes is that they are light in weight and mobile, making it easy for criminals to steal and escape.
Amsterdam-based e-bike company VanMoof has launched two new e-bikes, a full-size S4 and a small X4, with intelligent features and anti-theft technology. These e-bikes are mobile and built for urban riding with two power options- full power and economy mode, which provide 37 miles (60 km) and 87 miles (140 km) range, respectively.
Both bikes have non-removable batteries that power a 250W motor hub, giving the bikes a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h) with four power levels. The battery can be fully charged in 4 hours 30 minutes and supports a removable power bank that gives an additional range of up to 62 miles (100 km) of uninterrupted riding.
VanMoof S4 and X4 bikes have built-in anti-theft features such as tamper detection, onboard alarms, GSM location tracking, kick lock, automatic rider recognition, anti-theft nuts-bolts, and remote lockdown mode. These several security features will protect the bikes from thieves.
To activate the anti-theft system, kick the kick lock. The bike responds with a loud warning when the thief touches it, followed by an emergency alarm if the thief does not back off.
The S4 and X4 are the same bikes with different frame types, wheel sizes, and weights. Full-size S4 is made for riders of height 5’5″ to 6’8″, and S4 has a wheel size of 27.5″. Smaller X4 is made for riders of height 5’1″ to 6’2″ and has a wheel size of 24″.
S4 and X4 weigh 47.6 lbs (21 kg) and 44.7 lbs (20 kg).
The user can connect to the bike via the VanMoof app for dashboard navigation to track your speed, ride duration, and distance as you ride. Also, the user can check the battery of the bike or unlock the bike in seconds from the home screen of the phone.
VanMoof S4 and X4 bikes come in four color options- Evergreen, Sunbeam Yellow, Purple Fog, and Foam Green. These bikes are priced at $2.498 each and are available on their official website.
