Many drone models are made in a similar design – a flat frame with four propellers and four electric motors. This is the most basic way that exists, but there are those who look for ways to simplify and improve their properties.
A new camera drone is set to launch in February 2020, which deploys a brand new V-shaped dual-rotor propulsion system. Developed by Zero Zero Robotics, which we already know for its Hover and Hover 2 foldable drone, the drone called ‘V-Coptr Falcon’ is the world’s first V-shaped bi-copter, according to the manufacturers.
Unlike classic quadcopters, the folding model has not four, but two rotors, positioned at the end of two folding arms which deploy in a V shape. The bi-copter measures 22 x 14.8 x 7.24 cm and weighs 730 grams (and therefore requires authorizations to fly in certain countries). It is compact, with two arms that unfold manually before taking off. The battery is a 4S of 4500 mAh, which weighs 329 grams.
Despite the reduction in the number of drives, the V-Coptr Falcon, according to the manufacturer, can stay in the air for up to 50 minutes on a single battery charge. This is a long time compared to other best models at the moment that only lasts between 15 and 30 minutes flying, including the excellent DJI Mavic Mini. The range of the controlled flight of the model is up to 7 kilometers from the operator.
The camera mounted on the front has a 12-megapixel sensor capable of taking photos and videos in 4K at 30 frames per second. It also has AutoFollow, a system that allows you to sign an object to record constantly, and a dodge object system. Image stabilization is ensured by a 3-axis brushless gimbal, whose tilt can be controlled from 0° (horizontal) to -90° (vertical).
The blades are designed with a patented profile, which ensures a quieter flight than the competitors. Thanks to an advanced navigation system, the device is able to map the surrounding area and avoid collisions with obstacles. Software algorithms allow the drone to accompany people or other moving objects in automatic mode. A route programming function is also provided.
The V-Coptr Falcon is already available for pre-order on the developer’s website at a price of $ 699 ($ 999 after December 31), the start of sales is scheduled for February 2020.
