The Dutch private submarine company U-Boat Worx has announced the launch of a completely new class of submarine – the one that has been designed to host “the most prestigious and memorable events on the planet.”
The “Under Water Entertainment Platform” (UWEP) is a completely autonomous submersible with a capacity for up to 120 guests, excluding crew. Guests will experience diving to depths up to 200 meters in comfort and style and are free to walk around just as they would aboard a cruise ship.
The submarine measures 115-feet long, 25-feet wide, and 23 feet tall, offering over 150 square meters (1,600 square feet) of floor space that can be used for entertainment purposes. Its multi-purpose interior can be configured by the owner to include a 64-seat restaurant, a subsea gym, or an aquatic casino – luxury washrooms and a large gallery come standard.
The UWEP submarine could also be used as a venue for presentations, parties, weddings, conferences, or any other stage-based performance, in the unique setting imaginable. The party sub is fitted with 14 large windows that give seafarers a prime view of the deep ocean and the teeming marine life. It is also equipped with a series of exterior lights that illuminate the surroundings and add an extra dimension, whether to night-time diving or deep-sea dining experiences.
The fully autonomous UWEP is powered by a 1.2 megawatt-hour battery that lies beneath the ship’s floors and allows the ship to run for up to 18 hours straight on a single charge. Between the trips, the sub can be recharged and reprovisioned in a port or floating dock, where guests can also comfortably board the submarine via its two grand access hatches. The submarine can hit a top speed of 3 knots (5.5 km/h) underwater.
The UWEP also features a sundeck with over 85 square meters of deck space, complete with safety railings. Your guests can relax and watch the sunset after an exhilarating drive.
For those unsure of the vessel’s safety, the UWEP features an emergency power system that can be activated to keep critical systems turned on for 96 hours until rescue comes.
U-Boat Worx is currently reviewing opportunities with pioneering entrepreneurs and leading hospitality groups to select the most suitable locations. The company has not revealed the price of UWEP, but it is obvious that only the world’s largest billionaires will be able to access it.
