Senator MRAP armored vehicle built for protection against explosives and ambushes

A military armored vehicle is not only a means of transportation but also aims to ensure the safety of occupants in addition to carrying cargo.

Roshel, a Canadian manufacturer of wheeled armored vehicles and armored fighting vehicles, has unveiled its latest combat vehicle, the Senator Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP). This vehicle is based on the Ford F-550 pickup truck, and it will provide state-of-the-art solutions to modern defense and security challenges, like withstanding mine blasts and ballistic rounds.

The Senator MRAP is a combat vehicle that has proven its effectiveness in conflict zones. It incorporates Roshel’s extensive experience in armored vehicle manufacturing and provides unique levels of protection, mobility, and versatility.

Its robust design ensures occupant safety in hostile environments with a high level of protection against explosive devices and ambushes. The MRAP enhances crew survivability by deflecting blasts away from the cabin with its innovative V-shaped hull and dissipating explosive energy, particularly from landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The MRAP is designed to fire up to 7.62×39mm API BZ at 30 meters with 695 m/s as well as a 6 kg mass of explosive blast AT mine under any wheel and under center. At the same time, with high ground clearance, four-wheel drive, and a 6.7L turbo diesel engine, the Senator is a capable off-roader.

The vehicle’s customizable layout allows for adaptability to different mission requirements, while the advanced engineering ensures optimal performance, mobility, and reliability on the battlefield. An ergonomic and adaptable workspace of the Senator MRAP provides a comfortable and efficient working environment for the personnel inside, ensuring optimal performance and operational efficiency.

The combat vehicle has successfully passed STANAG 4569 AEP 55 Level 2 and Level 2a/2b ballistic and explosion tests by a NATO-certified US-based independent laboratory. The MRAP is offered in various configurations, including Counter UAV, Medical Evacuation, Command, and Control (C2), providing a reliable and adaptable solution customized to the unique demands of each mission.
