Scotsman unveils world’s first custom 3D printed carbon fiber electric scooter

Silicon Valley-based electric scooter brand Scotsman, known for its Superstrata bike, has taken its 3D-printed unibody construction approach to the world of electric mobility for the Scotsman e-scooter. The model is the world’s first electric scooter that is custom 3D printed entirely in carbon fiber thermoplastic composite to fit your body, height, and ride style.

Each scooter frame is created without joints or glue, resulting in a lightweight but durable product with a customizable twist. The scooter is produced using the latest thermoplastic materials, making it extremely impact-resistant yet remarkably lightweight. Visually, the Scotsman looks like it is made of one piece. Everything is rounded off, and the lights are remarkably integrated into the frame.

In addition to the advanced materials and manufacturing techniques used, the Scotsman is packed with the highest-end features. Depending on your driving style, the electric kickscooter is available in 500, 1,000, and 2,000-watt models. The Scotsman electric scooter is incredibly light and surprisingly powerful, thanks to its dual motor design. The 500, 1,000, and 2,000-watt models all have a range of 70 miles (112 km) and can travel at 19 mph (30 km/h), 31 mph (50 km/h), and 45 mph (73 km/h) respectively.

Since each Scotsman has two battery compartments, you can always purchase an additional battery and double your range up to 140 miles (225 km). Each battery adds about 6 pounds to the overall weight and takes about 5 hours to charge. The removable battery pack doubles as a power bank with a USB-C port to charge your computer, phone, or other electronics.

Other features include a dual regenerative brake system that ensures you can stop safely at high speeds, a proprietary composite suspension system for rider comfort, front and rear LED lights, 10-inch air-filled tube tires, and a front-facing dashcam. The scooter also has an LCD display that shows ride and trip info, integrated GPS, a cellular connection, and Bluetooth to make it a fully connected device.

Each Scotsman is individually crafted according to a number of precise measurements, accommodating riders from 4’6″ to 7’8″ (137 cm to 229cm). Stem length and baseboard size are adjusted to match each owner’s measurements. Also, it folds compactly for easy transport and unobtrusive storage.

The Scotsman electric scooter will retail for $2,999, but it can be pre-ordered right now, starting at $1,599 on Indiegogo. Shipping is expected to begin in December 2021.
