With an increasing number of wireless charging devices, more and more portable wireless chargers are also coming into the market. Now, OtterBox is also joining the board to provide a solution to limited battery life.
OtterBox has long been known for its ultra-durable cases and phone accessories, and now it is expanding into wireless charging. It has unveiled its Qi wireless charging power bank “OtterSpot,” which the company says is the world’s first expandable charging system for home, office, and on-the-go.
It is a portable wireless charging system with a stackable design. OtterBox says the 36W base can charge two additional batteries (totaling three OtterSpots) stacked, with a device on top at the same time. The system can actually handle up to four stackable batteries, but this will reduce charging speed, OtterBox spokesperson told The Verge.
Each battery pack has 5,000mAh capacity with its own Qi charging coil, up to 10-watt wireless charge speeds and support for USB-C wired charging. The batteries can be then used to power any Qi-enabled device on-the-go, around the home or in the office. This eliminates the hassle of managing cords or a search for an accessible power outlet.
OtterSpot batteries also come equipped with LED lights that show battery capacity and wireless charging state. Besides, an anti-slip surface on top and bottom of the system holds the phone in place during charging and keeps charging battery gripped to surface.
Modern design and sleek visual aesthetics ensure the OtterSpot Wireless Charging System is a perfect fit in any office or home environment.
OtterSpot portable charging system is now available for purchase at Otterbox.com. The circular OtterSpot base, one OtterSpot portable Qi battery, a USB-C cable, and a 36W USB-C charger cost $129.95. Additional batteries and charging bases cost $69.95, and a separate vertical Charging Stand is priced at $59.95.
