A Florida-based company Triton Submarines has launched the Triton 660 AVA series, which gives everyone on board a dramatic, unobstructed view of the underwater world.
The TRITON 660 AVA series employs the company’s revolutionary Advanced Versatile Acrylics to create the world’s first submersible with a free-form acrylic pressure hull.
The 660 AVA series comes in two models – the 660/9 AVA and its smaller sibling, the 660/7 AVA. The names hold the key to its main features – it is a submarine that goes to the depth of 660 feet (201 meters). The 660/9 AVA has seating for eight passengers and a pilot, while 660/7 has space for six passengers and a pilot.
The submarine can take passengers to 660 ft depths for up to 12 hours per charge of its 57 kWh battery. Four main electric thrusters and four maneuvering thrusters, each with a peak output of 5.5 kW, give it a top speed of 3 knots (3.5 mph). It measures 9.02 feet (2.75 meters) in length, 14.8 feet (4.5 meters) in width, and 7.55 feet (2.3 meters) in height. In a footprint similar to that of two stored jet skis, it boasts a viewing volume of roughly three times the size of similarly sized, spherical-hulled submersibles.
Both Tritons are configured so that the pilot sits in the center with full visibility. The cockpits on both look more like mini home theaters than conventional submersibles. Besides, the customizable seating inside the cabin can be arranged depending on the owner, allowing for multiple setups that could range from group cocktails to private dining for two. The larger submarine would make a perfect venue for underwater weddings, a high-rollers’ club, a subsea dining venue, or even a cocktail bar.
In addition, it has easy access to the interior, rather than having to crawl through a narrow space to get to a seat. The cabin has air-conditioning and heating, plenty of legroom, a professional sound system, and adjustable color lights. Powerful exterior lights and 360-degree visibility should make for a truly breathtaking viewing experience.
This model offers owners and passengers maximum flexibility to change and evolve their dive experience. Details on pricing and deliveries have not been made public.
