The Huawei Watch GT 2, announced last autumn, is one of the smartwatches that received the best design, build quality, autonomy, performance/price ratio, and functionality. Despite not offering access to advanced apps like those available for Apple Watch, the GT 2 are able to offer everything that really matters, such as advanced notifications and registrations, in a simple to use interface and in light and well-built watches.
Now, the Chinese manufacturer has presented the new Watch GT 2e smartwatch to the world, a revised version of the Huawei Watch GT 2 with few differences. It seems GT 2e uses the same components as the existing GT2. The main differences are in the design of the watch itself and the graphics of the interface. Apparently, Huawei has essentially packaged last year’s technology in a new case.
But, that shouldn’t make the smartwatch any less attractive: 14 days of battery life can still be read impressively even after one year. The new smartwatch integrates the same 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a round cut and a relatively high resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, while the case is in stainless steel. The watch is thinner, and the strap has breathability thanks to the holes and very flexible material. On the right side edge, there are two physical buttons to interact with the software.
Inside, the new Huawei Watch GT 2e will offer a Kirin A1 processor and 4 GB of storage to hold approximately 500 mp3 songs. The 455mAh battery, according to Huawei, should ensure the autonomy of about 14 days under normal use. Battery life may vary depending on actual usage.
Besides, it comes with a complete set of sensors, which includes a barometer, acceleration sensor, gyroscope, digital compass, heart rate monitor, pedometer, and motion sensor. Also present Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and a microphone. It is also water-resistant up to 50 meters.
One of the most interesting features of the watch is Huawei Watch GT 2e supports single-time Blood oxygen saturation6 (SpO2) level measuring, monitors your heart rate, analyses your breathing, and awards a score on your overall sleep quality – the novelties that Apple could also add to its next-gen models. The smartwatch also supports 15 different professional sports tracking modes and 85 other customized sports tracking modes. Finally, there are the typical functions of smartwatches, such as receiving notifications, voice control, sleep monitoring, and music playback management.
Huawei Watch GT 2e will arrive in Graphite Black, Lava Red, Mint Green, and Icy White colors starting from this April in the Huawei stores and at all authorized dealers, at a price of €199 (about $220).
