A new battery technology supports 6C ultra-fast charging

It allows LFP batteries to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 8.55 minutes.

Imagine recharging your electric car in just 10 minutes—Farasis Energy has made this vision a reality. The Chinese company has developed cutting-edge 6C ultra-fast charging technology, addressing the growing need for quicker EV charging. This innovation significantly reduces charging times, making electric vehicles more convenient for daily use.

At a recent event in Shanghai, Jiang Weiran, vice president of research and development at Farasis Energy, shared the secret behind their breakthrough in ultra-fast 6C charging.

Using an advanced ROM (rapid optimization model) simulation, the company has revolutionized the design of large pouch-style batteries, pushing them to handle ultra-fast 6C charging efficiently.

The key lies in their SPS (super pouch solution) structural design, which improves heat dissipation by up to five times over conventional batteries. This advancement ensures that charging temperatures remain controlled, staying below 50°C even during high-speed charging sessions.

Farasis reduced charging times from 10 percent to 80 percent state of charge (SOC) by up to 16.8% for their 6C LFP batteries in optimized conditions.

Another standout feature is the ROM simulation model’s speed. Tasks that typically require 8-10 hours with traditional tools now take just 10 seconds, expediting battery development and improving design efficiency.

The technology also supports various battery types, including 5C Li-ion ternary battery, 6C LFP battery, and sodium chemistries.

Farasis Energy is making waves in China’s power battery sector, ranking among the top players. This game-changing 6C fast-charging technology not only boosts Energy’s standing in the competitive battery industry but also raises the bar for how quickly electric vehicles can power up.

It’s an exciting leap forward, promising a future where EVs are not just high-performing but also incredibly convenient for manufacturers and drivers.
