For reference, Tokyo Override is an anime series set in a futuristic Tokyo 100 years from now. In the storyline dominated by Artificial Intelligence, a group of characters ride motorcycles to uncover a hidden threat in society.

Developed in collaboration with Netflix, Y/AI offers a glimpse into what motorcycle designs would be like in the 2100s. The motorcycle’s spookless semi-translucent wheels with glowing lights present a breakthrough from the current vehicle designs. Y/AI appears to be more like a hoverbike with a sharp, angular-lined bridge connecting two wheels.

Though the motorcycle is the prototype, it is not the first time Yamaha has collaborated with Netflix. Yamaha’s YZF-R1 and VMAX models have already been demonstrated in the anime series. On Netflix’s request, Yamaha supplied 3D renders, images, and a sound recording of the actual bike.

We spent a lot of time over numerous discussions about what the world of Tokyo 100 years in the future would be like and compiled the results into a ‘bible’ to follow during production. The events and vehicles you see in the series, as well as the story itself, are all based on that 400-page bible.
