MoonBikes, the first-ever ultra-light, silent electric snowbikes

Last year, a French startup MoonBike introduced a full-throttle electric snowbike meant to travel lightly and deliver sharp, explosive exhilaration on the snow. Following the early 2021 pre-orders, it is now confirmed that the first-ever ultra-light electric snowbike will reach its buyer by the end of 2021.

The company has announced that its all-electric snowbike will be delivered to the customers in December. The second batch of the snowbike will be delivered in early 2022, which is now available for pre-order.

Created by the aeronautical engineer and founder of MoonBike Nicolas Muron, the easy-to-ride MoonBike is a fully electric and ultra-light snowmobile, ready for ecological rides that do not disturb the serenity of the environment. It features a snowmobile-like combination of rear track drive and front ski. The vehicle moves on the snow thanks to a rear hub-mounted 3 kW electric motor with 170 Nm of torque. The MoonBike has the capacity to hold one or two 2-kWh batteries for additional range. With a top speed of up to 28 mph (45 km/h) and a range of up to 40 miles (65 km) with an optional dual battery, this snowbike wants to replace classic snowmobiles, which are significant sources of air pollution.

According to the company, MoonBike is 100% electric, 100% silent, has zero operational footprints, and is ultra-lightweight at only 176 pounds (80 kg). Despite its lightweight, the vehicle supports payloads of up to 264 lbs (120 kg). It is capable of climbing up to 30 degrees of slopes, as well as maintaining driving, even in temperatures of minus 25ºC.

For those eager to have the first electric snowmobile in the world, with which they can travel the winter landscapes on their next vacation in 2022, they can now pre-order their own MoonBike for $8,500. The vehicle is available on the MoonBikes website, although the electric snowbike’s 2022 shipment is also limited to 250 units that come in white or red.

The company says snow lovers now have a sustainable and silent alternative without compromising speed, price, or autonomy as Moonbikes can run up to three hours with a second battery or up to 1.5 hours with one.
