Magonis Wave e-550, a small, sleek electric boat with unrivaled performance

New Italo-Spanish shipyard Magonis has entered the electric boat market with the Magonis Wave e-550, a small, sleek electric boat with a customizable personality. The boat made its world debut in May at the Venice Boat Show 2021. Created in 2017, it took three years for the Italian-Spanish company to develop, design, and build this first model.

Despite its small size, the boat measures 5.50 meters in length (4.96 m at the waterline), 1.98 meters in width, and was designed to sail both on Lake Garda and on the sea of Capri, or even to go from Ibiza to Formentera.

With a depth of just 0.30 m, it is possible to venture almost to the shore in complete silence thanks to the electric propulsion. Built-in infusion with Light X Pro technology developed in-house, the boat has a lightweight of only 335 kg. The company also promises the build ensures faster, unsinkable performance on the water and long-lasting durability.

In the cockpit, comfortable seating and a protective windscreen ensure comfortable and safe navigation for up to six passengers. The Wave e-550 electric boat includes a U-shaped sofa at the bow that converts optionally to a three-person sun lounge and a dining area with an available telescopic table.

Four electric drives are available: the Torqeedo Cruise line offers a range of engines from 4 kW up to 10 kW delivering the same powerful propulsion as a 20 HP combustion engine, or the new Mag Power with 18 and 30 kW, respectively. The ultra-light 18 KW engine delivers an amazing top speed of 16 knots (29 km/h) and is ideal for coastal waters and island-hopping. The powerful 30 KW reaches an outrageous 22 knots (41 km/h) speed and opens up limitless options for you: cruise, race, wakeboard, all pleasures at sea.

Magonis Wave e-550 has been designed to optimize space as much as possible and can carry up to 3 batteries for unparalleled autonomy. Magonis estimates that the Wave e-550 can cruise around at 5 knots for up to 12 hours, which equates to about 60 nautical miles or 69 land miles (111 km).

The standard equipment of the Magonis Wave e-550 includes a 4 kg stainless steel dolphin and anchor, a ladder for ascending from the bathroom with four large steps, four design cleats in stainless steel, and in the same material are the forward rail and the windscreen pillars. As for the options, there is a telescopic table, a deck entirely in teak, a refrigerator, a shower, an alarm, and an 8-square-meter XXL awning supported by carbon posts.

Instrumentation has been replaced with a waterproof 13-inch iPad that owners can take with them wherever they go. There is also a slot for recharging smartphones as well as a 120-watt Fusion audio system.

Base prices for the electric boat start at €33,485 ($40,000) for the 4 kW Torqeedo model, rising to €68,960 ($82,350) for the MAG Power 30-driven version, all including VAT.
