Lightweight, foldable Morfuns Éole ebikes attract attention with the prices

E-bikes are becoming all the rage now. At least since the coronavirus arrived, the sales figures for motorized two-wheelers have skyrocketed. Among them, the folding bikes stand out, which offer us mobility in a small space and a convenient solution for last-mile urban transportation.

One of them is the Morfuns Éole carbon fiber electric bike, which is now available for pre-order, and the price is one of the lowest we have ever seen for such a unique model. The bike, which is fully foldable in the middle and has small tires in this respect, has two different versions, Morfuns Éole C and Morfuns Éole S.

Éole C, which stands for comfortable and convenient, takes only a carbon fiber frame to reduce the weight of the whole bike, which is about 15.8 kg. It has a 36V 250W high-speed motor powered by a Samsung 36V 7Ah Seatpost battery that offers a pedal-assisted range of up to 28 miles (45 km). The e-bike sports a 7-speed Shimano Tourney derailleur, 160-mm Zoom disc brakes for stopping, and runs on 20-inch KENDA tires.

The other Éole S model – which means mean Sports and Superlight – weighs only 12.8kg, including the battery. Made of the ultra-light carbon fiber, the whole frame is the only 1.1kg, and the folding hitch, originally designed by our team, weighs about 0.8kg. Most of the parts of S are lightweight options, like the frame, seat post, handlebar, stem, chain wheel, and even the motor.

The 20-inch wheel bike powered by a 36V 250W AKM Superlight motor, which is powered by a small 7Ah Samsung battery cells. A pack that they indicate offers a range of about 31 miles (50 km), with a charging time of 3 hours. The Éole S features a Shimano Sora 9-speed derailleur, Tektro disc brakes, and rolls on 20-inch Schwalbe tires.

The Morfuns Éole bikes are currently available for pre-sale on the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, where the Éole C model starts at just $999 (nearly 50% off the estimated retail price), and the lighter Éole S starts at $1,259 (retail price of $2,299). If all goes according to the plan, shipments are expected to begin in December of this year.
