Karma Revero GTE, the first electric long-range sedan of the brand

We already knew that the company Karma Automotive, the brainchild of Henrik Fisker, is fully engaged in the development of electric cars. Earlier, they presented their multi-functional E-Flex platform and the first car to be built on it. Now the Southern California-based company has announced a new version of the Revero. It will be called ‘Revero GTE’ and has a fully electric drivetrain. The company already offers three versions of Revero (original Revero, Revero GTS, and GT), while the GTE will join as the fourth model in Karma’s Revero family – all-electric.

Karma Revero GTE aims to compete with the top-end Tesla Model S and premium electric cars. Designed on the manufacturer’s new versatile E-Flex platform, it will complement the various plug-in hybrid models in the Revero range.

Although not too much detail is given yet, we already know the different versions that will be offered of the electric model. Karma is currently talking about two initial versions. One would get a range of about 200-mile (322 km), the other should reach 300 miles (484 km) on a single charge. The capacities of the battery packs are 75 and 100 kWh, respectively. At the end of 2021, there will also be a version of the most powerful battery that will cover up to 400 miles (644 km), although no more information has been given about it.

Note that the Karma Revero GTE does not use the normal lithium-ion batteries, but it has NMC (nickel, manganese, and cobalt) lithium-ion batteries. They can be fully recharged with alternating current at speeds of 11 kW in one night (they do not specify hours). Of course, there is also the possibility of high-speed DC 150kW Fast Charging, which recharges the GTE’s 200-mile option to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

According to Karma, the Revero GTE should be able to sprint from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, although it is not yet certain whether this applies to all versions.

This Karma Revero GTE is scheduled to hit the market in the fall of 2021 in its native Moreno Valley in California, and by the fourth quarter of 2021, enter the markets of Europe and China.
