California-based company Juiced Bikes has updated its Scorpion electric moped that was launched in 2019. Built on the same full-suspension frame as the original Scorpion, the new Scorpion X delivers an upgraded riding experience with more power, speed, and range.
The updated Scorpion comes equipped with a new electronics system and custom RetroBlade 5:1 geared hub motor, which is rated at 750 W and produces 85 Nm. Coming with a bigger 52-Volt 15Ah downtube battery, the Scorpion X brings a range of over 55 miles (88 km), depending on the use. The battery is lockable and can be removed for charging indoors.
It is also equipped with Torque and Cadence pedal-assist technology and an upgraded 8-speed cassette and 56T-11T transmission for easier pedaling at higher speeds. The electric moped can reach the top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h) – similar to the original model.
The Scorpion X focuses directly on urban use and has a very comfortable seat. It features a 6061-aluminum step-through frame, 20-inch puncture-resistant tires, built-in Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, dual suspension, rear rack and fenders, and powerful lighting, with a payload capacity of 125 kg.
Additional enhancements to the Scorpion X include a 100 dB horn, a Key Switch for security, and the RelayRack (compatible with the Cargo Platform adaptor kit). It also has a water-resistant, backlit LCD Matrix display, where seven levels of assist can be selected, and ride metrics can be shown.
The Juiced Scorpion X goes for sale on April 20 at a discounted price of $1,999 (it carries an MSRP of $2,100). Deliveries are expected to begin in late April.
