The Belgian ebike maker Cowboy has unveiled the fourth generation of its lightweight, connected electric bike, featuring an open frame for the first time.
The Cowboy 4 is stronger than its predecessor and is being offered for the first time in two frame variants. Cowboy 4 is a complete overhaul to last year’s Cowboy 3, while the Cowboy 4 ST features the company’s first step-through frame. Both the ebikes come with 50% more torque, a new integrated cockpit, a more powerful motor, wireless charging for your smartphone, and an improved Cowboy app.
Like their predecessors, both models have a redesigned 250W rear-hub motor with an automatic transmission that produces 45 Nm of torque and provides pedal assist up to a max speed of 25km/h (15.5mph). They also have a maintenance-friendly Gates Carbon belt drive and the 360 Wh removable 2.4 kg battery that offers up to 70 km (43.5 miles) of per-charge range.
The Cowboy 4 ST ideal for smaller riders from 160 to 190 centimeters, while the Cowboy 4 is ideal for anyone from 170 to 195 centimeters in height. At 19.2 kilograms, the ST is slightly heavier than the 18.9 kilograms of the Cowboy 4.
The bike retains a 6061 aluminum frame, perfectly integrated front/rear lighting, puncture-resistant tires, hydraulic disc brakes, and a 100 W battery charger (full charge in 3.5 hours).
Fortunately, the Cowboy 4 is equipped with an integrated cockpit with wireless charging functionality. Thanks to the Quad-Lock mount, you can easily click your smartphone onto the handlebar. It can charge your phone at up to 15W from the e-bike‘s battery.
The Cowboy apps for iOS and Android have also been totally redesigned that provides instant access to information such as remaining battery range, air quality on the route, and a wide range of health and fitness stats, as well as turn-by-turn navigation, with many new features rooted in game design theory.
As far as customer support is concerned, the manufacturer offers free repair services in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria, and Luxembourg. Cowboy also offers customer support that is available six days a week and a subscription plan for theft detection, insurance, and street-side assistance.
Available in black, beige, and green, the Cowboy 4 and Cowboy 4 ST are available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s website at €2,490 ($3,000). The first copies will be delivered in September.
