Harley-Davidson presents its first electric bike called Serial 1

Harley-Davidson is probably the most recognizable brand of motorcycles, with large and powerful engines that make a specific sound, easy to recognize, especially by enthusiasts. However, the company is also looking to the future and the direction in which two-wheeled mobility is heading. This is how the “Serial 1 Cycle Company,” a new Harley Davidson division, appeared, which emerged from the in-house research and development laboratories, with the aim of producing electric bicycles.

The brand name is a tribute to the first motorcycle built by Harley-Davidson in 1903, called “Serial number one”. And, the first electric bicycle of the new brand, the Serial 1 eBicycle, pays homage to the company’s first motorcycle.

Combining the freedom and simplicity of a bicycle with the effortless joy of electric power, Serial 1’s eBicycles will allow anyone to ride farther, faster, and with less effort, making an eBicycle the perfect solution for urban commuting and recreational riding.

The Series 1 consists of fat white tires, a relatively thin black frame, brown leather saddle, light-upward logos, and a flexible brown chain extending from the pedals to the rear wheel. The brakes on both wheels are on the disc, and the whole package seems to be a premium one.

The manufacturer did not disclose any specifications for the new bike, so at the moment, nothing is known about the engine power level, battery capacity, and range. It is clear, however, that the bike shown was not built from one of the three prototypes that Harley-Davidson showed at last year’s EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan.

Also, there is no word on the pricing of the Serial 1 electric bike but are expected to be in the thousands of dollars range. Serial-1-Cycle-Company will be officially launched to consumers in March 2021.

It seems that the electric bicycle market is growing, and Harley Davidson sees it as an opportunity to grow its business in new areas. The company expects the e-bike market to grow significantly in the coming years. According to the press release, it was estimated to be over $15 billion in 2019 and projected to grow at an annual rate of over 6 percent from 2020 to 2025.
