Electrify America is offering its first-ever EV chargers for home

Battery-powered cars and trucks are the future and Electrify America aims to make EV ownership as convenient as possible. The company isn’t solely focused on public charging stations.

On Tuesday, the firm has announced that it is now offering its first home charger, the Electrify America Electric Vehicle Home Charger, on Amazon for $499. The new, 240-volt Level 2 charger provides up to 7.6 kilowatts of juice for all EVs sold in North America or about 25 miles per hour depending on the car.

According to Electrify America, this allows for a charge up to six times faster than a standard 120-volt household outlet (also known as Level 1 charger) provided to some new EV owners, depending on vehicle make and model.

The EV home charger will ensure your car is fully charged before you leave for work in the morning. The home charging station comes with a standard NEMA 14-50 supply power plug, compatible with the 240-volt outlets commonly found in households. It can be installed inside or outside and comes with a 24-foot cable to plug into a car.

But before installation, customers will need to ensure their homes’ wiring is in good enough condition to handle the added voltage. The EV home charger is also fitted with Wi-Fi to provide data on home charging sessions separately, according to Electrify America.

Besides, the firm plans to link the station with the Electrify America app, allowing drivers to view their complete charging history – including public and at-home charging – in one place. The latest charger is backed by a three-year warranty and comes with 24-hour customer support.
