Mazda MX-30, the first 100% electric car in the history of Mazda, is unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. This new MX-30 has been developed alone by Mazda; They also launched a completely new electric propulsion system called e-Skyactive for the new generation of Mazda that is based on the Skyactive-Vehicle Architecture.
Its engine offers a power of 141 hp that gives a maximum torque of 265 Nm. It offers an all-wheel drive and has a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric range of Mazda’s so-called e-Skyactiv powertrain is not yet known.
Charging is possible with a capacity of 6.6 kW (AC, alternating current) with a regular charging station and with 50 kW (DC, direct current) with a fast charger.
Freestyle door setup
Mazda MX-30 features the RX-8-like “Freestyle” door setup. These doors have specially designed hinges that make it possible to open the front doors up to an angle of 82 ° and the rear doors up to an angle of 80 °. The rear doors open in the opposite direction to the front doors. This not only makes loading and unloading of luggage easier but also provides easier access for prams and wheelchairs.
This is no towering SUV; however, while it’s over 14 feet long, the top of MX-30 is only a little over 5 feet high.
Advanced safety system:
Furthermore, the Mazda MX-30 comes with a series of new safety systems under the name i-Activsense. For example, the model is equipped with Smart Brake Support with Turn-Across Traffic. This system monitors the oncoming traffic when turning at an intersection and automatically brakes and controls to prevent a collision.
The MX-30 also introduces new technologies, including Road Keep Assist, which uses a camera that checks the roadside or curbs along unmarked roads. It helps keep the car on the right track even in the absence of lane markings and Emergency Lane Keeping with Blind Spot Assist, which helps prevent collisions when changing lanes.
Mazda has developed the MX-30 in such a way that the ecological impact during the entire life cycle is as small as possible. In addition to the more compact battery, the interior also includes environmentally friendly materials and a vegan alternative to leather. The floating center console contains cork, and the door covering uses recycled PET bottles. Furthermore, parts of the seat covers are made of Black Denim material, consisting of around 20% recycled yarn.
The new Mazda MX-30 comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, parking sensors, seat heating, reversing camera, multimedia, and navigation system with an 8.8-inch color display and much more.
The First Edition is also equipped with an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and the Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Active Driving Display, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety features, Mazda wrote in a release.
The pricing and availability of the car are not available yet.
