eBussy, an affordable, modular EV with ten different body styles

The German company Electric Brands is preparing to launch a VW Bus-inspired EV called eBussy on the European market. The modular EV is a real breakthrough in the world of affordable transport from Germany.

The novelty is based on an easily transformable platform. With more than ten modular and interchangeable bodies, it can be converted into a convertible, off-roader, box body, station wagon, pickup or panel van and camping bus in just a few simple steps. Surely this is due to the practical interior and a large number of additional equipment.

Depending on the chosen body, the eBussy weighs between 450 and 600 kilograms, but can still carry up to 1000kg of the load. Also, thanks to its low weight, the range on a 10 kWh battery pack will be 200 km (124 miles). You can also opt for a more impressive 30 kWh battery – in this case, the range increases to 600 km (373 miles). The model is equipped with four small electric motors integrated into each wheel. Together they deliver a power of only 20 horsepower but an impressive 1000 Nm of torque and the speed of up to 90 km/h (55 mph).

The driving position can change from right to left in the blink of an eye; even if it makes you comfortable, you can keep driving in the center, just move the steering wheel along the dashboard. That is because they are not mechanically connected to the car but via so-called drive-by-wire technology.

All eBussy variants have solar panels on the roof for some extra electricity and also recover braking energy. Charging via a charging station takes about 3 to 6 hours, depending on the chosen battery. With its permanent, electronically controlled all-wheel drive in combination with its innovative all-steering system, its digital exterior mirrors, and app-controlled communication system, the eBussy sets new standards not only as a light vehicle.

It is expected that the starting price tag of eBussy will be about €15,800 ($18,525). The most expensive model, the off-road camper with an extended list of equipment will be offered at a price of €28,800 ($33,309).
