DEEP Robotics launches China’s first industrial-grade waterproof robot dog

Robots can be a great solution for dangerous inspections and maintenance tasks in industrial or commercial facilities. However, traditional wheeled robots cannot adapt to the complex outdoor terrain. Drones can overcome some of the problems, but they have low battery life and are also difficult to operate in inclement weather. The smart quadruped robot has excellent adaptability to complex terrain and has huge application potential in security patrol inspection, surveying and exploration, public rescue, and other fields.

DEEP Robotics, a Chinese technology company, focused on smart quadruped robots, has announced the launch of its new robot dog Jueying X20, which can show excellent protection performance in rain and muddy environments.

The protective version of “Jueying robot” is also the first domestic intelligent four-legged robot with industrial-grade waterproofing, according to the company. This will provide a more comprehensive solution for industrial inspection scenarios in climate-changing areas.

Jueying X20 features strong load capacity and scalability, autonomous charging, all-scenario coverage, great computing power, and perceptual precision. It delivers higher performance in terms of protection, scalability, load capacity, and endurance compared to its precedents.

The waterproof(IP66) robot can flawlessly operate in outdoor environments, even on rainy days and in other harsh environments, while preventing dust from entering the system.

Jueying X20 robot dog measures 100 cm long, 46 cm wide, 60 cm high, weighs 50kg and can travel at the maximum speeds of 12km/h (7.4 mph). The robot can operate for more than 2 hours with a load of 20 kg and for as long as 4 hours without a load. It has a maximum load capacity of 40 kg. Additionally, the quadruped robot can easily step over an 18cm high obstacle, navigate a stairwell, and climb a 30-degree slope, allowing it to adapt to various complex environments, including grasslands, sand, snowfields, gravel roads, and puddles.

Thanks to a depth-sensing camera and laser radar coupled with an intelligent algorithm, the robot enables trackless autonomous navigation, dynamic obstacle avoidance, and human activity recognition based on actual needs. The robot’s wide peripheral platform also comes equipped with multiple interfaces for power supply and communications.

The first model of Jueying series of robots was launched in 2017. Since then, Jueying models have been tested in multiple application environments, including search and rescue, industrial inspection, and more.
