Back in 2019, an American electric mobility startup Canoo had plans to sell a subscription-only EV. The company has now opened its reservations and is taking preorders.
The futuristic-looking van officially called the “Lifestyle Vehicle” will be the first vehicle to market in 2022 and has targeted pricing starting from $34,750 before incentives or optional equipment.
You can reserve one of your own for a $100 deposit, along with its previously announced electric pickup truck and delivery van, though no pricing has been revealed for those models. Deliveries for those vehicles, however, are scheduled to begin as early as 2023.
Canoo’s Lifestyle Vehicle is built on the company’s EV skateboard platform and has up to 300 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of peak motor torque with 250 miles (400 km) of battery range. An 80-kWh battery pack can be recharged to 80% in under half an hour.
The design is different compared to the angular design of the Tesla Cybertruck and will even stand out among those from Rivian, Ford, and others. Canoo designed the Lifestyle Vehicle to be cabin forward to maximize interior space and function, with exportable power and customization options. With the exterior footprint of a compact car, the vehicle is made for urban, adventure, families, fleet, ride-hailing, and more.
Now available in four trims: Base, Premium, Adventure, and Delivery – the Lifestyle Vehicle is the ultimate multi-tasker. The Adventure trim has more ground clearance and a more muscular profile with enhanced bumpers and the addition of a metal skid plate.
The Lifestyle Vehicle has targeted pricing starting from $34,750 -$49,950 for Delivery, Base, and Premium models, before incentives or optional equipment. Range-topping Adventure trim pricing will be announced in the coming months.
