Using AI to discover the best material for film capacitors

An innovative set of ML models to discover a record-breaking material.

In a collaborative study, published in Nature Energy, researchers and engineers have developed feedforward neural networks that can search through a large pool of chemicals to discover the best suitable materials for film capacitors. The feedforward neural networks screened through 50,000 chemicals. This AI model suggested three polymers that have a record-high combination of heat resistance, insulating properties, energy density, and efficiency.
