Sun Reaches Maximum Phase in 11-Year Solar Cycle

On Tuesday, NASA, NOAA, and the International Solar Cycle Prediction Panel announced that the Sun has hit its peak activity level, called solar maximum, which might continue for another year. They monitor sunspots to study the solar cycle, and during this peak, solar activity increases. While this is a good opportunity to learn more about the Sun, it can also have strong effects on Earth and the solar system.
