New research shows that Ice Age teens from 25,000 years ago went through puberty much like teens today. A study of 13 ancient humans aged 10 to 20, published in the Journal of Human Evolution, found bone markers that revealed puberty stages. Led by UVic’s April Nowell, researchers used techniques developed by Mary Lewis to examine tooth and bone growth.
