Researchers have discovered seven new species of tree frogs in Madagascar’s rainforests that produce unique, high-pitched whistling calls reminiscent of sounds from Star Trek. They’ve named these frogs after iconic characters from the series. These frogs, part of the Boophis genus, communicate using bird-like sounds. The research team, led by Professor Miguel Vences, was inspired by the similarities between the frogs’ calls and the sci-fi show’s sound effects.
