Scientists synchronize bacterial motion

Scientists at TU Delft have found that E. coli bacteria are capable of synchronizing their movements, establishing organization within what appear to be chaotic biological systems. By confining single bacteria in microscale circular chambers and linking these chambers via narrow channels, the researchers noted coordinated motion among the bacteria. These results could lead to advancements in designing manageable biological oscillator networks.
