A new study by the Chinese Academy of Sciences investigates the catalytic properties of iron sulfide (FeS), both in its pure form and when doped with titanium (Ti), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), and cobalt (Co). The research focuses on FeS’s potential to catalyze the hydrogen-powered reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol, simulating conditions similar to hot spring vapor zones. To analyze the process, the researchers used an anaerobic flow chamber connected to a gas chromatograph.
