As society faces the challenges of COVID-19, research from Osaka Metropolitan University on COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA) is significant. This severe lung infection has been reported to occur in 3.8% to 35% of cases globally. Analyzing over 150,000 COVID-19 cases from 2020 to 2021, the study found CAPA in 0.4% to 2.7% of 33,000 severely ill patients.
