Scientists from Japan have developed a method to locate hydrogen (H) and deuterium (D) in titanium hydride nanofilms. Using a combination of nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) and ion channeling, they mapped the positions of these atoms through two-dimensional angular mappings of NRA yields. This approach addresses the challenge of detecting hydrogen in materials, which conventional methods like electron probes or X-rays struggle with due to their low sensitivity to such small particles.
