An international study led by astronomers from Swinburne University of Technology has produced the most detailed maps of gravitational waves across the universe. The research also developed the largest galactic-scale gravitational wave detector and found further evidence of a “background” of gravitational waves—fast, invisible ripples in space that could help uncover major cosmic mysteries. These studies provide new insights into the universe’s largest black holes, their role in shaping the universe, and the cosmic structure they have left behind.
