Monitoring cellular communication through a biosensing technique

Decoding intricate electrical signals sent by cells.

Developed by MIT scientists, a new, wireless biosensing technique use light to detect tiny electrical signals. Small electrical changes in the liquid around the antennas changed their scattering of light. An array of tiny antennas, each one-hundredth the width of a human hair, measured and transmitted electrical signals among cells with extreme spatial resolution.
