For the first time, scientists have taken nearly daily measurements of the Sun’s global coronal magnetic field, a region that has typically been observed only occasionally. This continuous data collection occurred over eight months using the Upgraded Coronal Multi-channel Polarimeter (UCoMP). The findings provide important insights into the processes behind intense solar storms, which can greatly impact technologies on Earth.
