Scientists from the University of Manchester analyzed a lunar meteorite known as Northwest Africa 2995 to gain insights into the South Pole-Aitken (SPA) basin, the Moon’s oldest known impact site, which spans over 2,000 kilometers on the far side of the Moon. Their research indicates that the SPA basin formed approximately 120 million years earlier than previously believed, during a period characterized by significant impacts on the Moon.
