Electric boat startup Arc recently took the first Arc One, a pre-production electric speedboat model, to Lake Arrowhead, CA, for a day of testing. The reveal of the pre-production version signals that the company is getting closer to customer deliveries, which are on schedule for this summer.
This impressive boat with a massive battery and an elegant design will have a top speed of around 40 mph (64 km/h). It received a new, more powerful motor that is now capable of putting out over 500 hp of power that will allow the boat to accelerate more quickly and maintain high speeds for longer.
The total battery capacity will be 10% larger than previously disclosed – now 220 kWh, or three times the capacity of a Tesla Model Y. This ensures the user will have enough juice for between three and five hours per charge with no recharge needed.
The Arc One’s sleek, lightweight aluminum hull shape itself is evolving to unlock greater efficiency and more sporty handling. It can accommodate up to 12 people, measures 24 feet long and 102 inches (8 feet, 6 inches) across. The electric speedboat is also equipped with integrated smart tech and can carry out over-the-air software updates just like a Tesla.
The battery packs designed exclusively for the Arc One provide tight control over your center of gravity and free up an extra 60 cubic feet of storage space. In total, the boat will have 90-100 cubic feet of storage.
The Arc One will be a limited edition luxury cruise that will retail for $300,000 and is due to roll out this summer. The Californian marine startup was launched last year by a team of former SpaceX engineers with a plan to develop a luxury electric cruiser.
